He's mad, so he takes it out on everyone else by blowing up stuff in a manner that's completely counterproductive. That's basically the definition of a tantrum.

You can have reasons and still behave childishly. You can be a mature adult and still behave childishly. Hell, sometimes Batman behaves childishly and his M.O. is looming over everyone and being spooky.
