[ Stephanie Gordon has been applying to schools for the last several months. At the age of 18 her high school days are almost over and it would seem she has a bright future ahead of her in journalism or some such thing. She's starting to get interviews, but she's not too happy with her prospects at the moment. In fact, she's already considering widening the net and trying places even further away from home. Why, you ask? ]

I swear, if I hear one more person tell me I would be happier in an all girls school I'm gonna break somebody's nose. Yes, I might be, but it's the principle of the thing, you know? It's not like I didn't apply to any.

[ She just got back from a college interview. She's pretty sure she didn't get in, but she may as well make a point while she's all dolled up. ]

Speaking of which, has anyone heard anything about the Times scholarship? I was supposed to hear from them some time this week, but I guess the letter could have gotten lost in the mail.

[ She huffs, glances away from the screen and tucks a stray hair into place out of her eyes. ]

Anyway, how is everybody? Ready for the weekend?

[ She kisses him back, humming happily. After a moment she pulls away. ]

Come on, before Mom catches us.

On it! [Once she joins him on the scooter, he starts the engine up and pulls away from her house. Patches pops his head out from underneath Kon's jacket and lets his ears and tongue flap around in the wind.]

[ She wraps her arms around his middle and rests her chin on his shoulder. ]

Do you like it here, Kon?

It's no Krypton [seriously lacking in technology], but there are some things here that nothing on Krypton could ever compare to.

What's your favorite part? And if you say me I'll pinch you.

Might as well pinch me now, then. I can tell you my second favorite part instead.

Maybe when you're not driving. So what's your second favorite?

Every time I see a park, it amazes me. Back on Krypton there is not much wild life or plant life left because of a great clone war. I am hoping my teleportation device will be able to bring in fresh supplies, or transport my people off our planet if it ever gets that dire.

I hope you're right. I hate to think of a whole planet dying off. It's just too sad.

Don't worry, I'll get my transporter fixed before anything that dire happens! Then the planet will slowly but surely revitalize itself.

You're a regular super hero. [ She gives him a quick kiss on the neck, trying not to interrupt his driving too much. ]

Science is where the real power's at, I'm just fortunate enough to have a mind to understand much of it. [Smiles at her although he doesn't turn around to acknowledge her kiss.]

We should be there in a few minutes.

Take your time - I'm loving the ride.

When you have an entire afternoon to spare, I'll take you somewhere more private and we can go flying on it.

Oh, you really mean it? [ She swoons. ] That's such a risk, but it sounds amazing.

Absolutely. [If only he could see her swooning!

Pulls his scooter by some bike racks and locks it up. Then he offers her his hand to help her off the bike.]

[ She takes the hand and dismounts mostly gracefully. And once she's on solid ground she pats her pants down as though she were wearing a proper dress. ]

Well, now that's decided. Shall we?

We shall! [Hooks his arm with hers, leading the way to the movie theater.]
