I can go home.
[ Combined with the massive grin on her face, it sounds like Steph has just announced that she was unexpectedly elected president of the world. ]
No, I mean, I can go home.
[ She seems to realize that she's not making any sense. She doesn't seem to care. ]
Okay, I know that sounds weird. I just, I need to hug someone.
Actually, I need to hug everyone. Consider yourselves warned - if you get in my way, you will be hugged.

[ She's not kidding. Everyone she meets except for Scorpius, Davy Jones, and James Bond is going to be hugged.
James Bond will be punched. Davy Jones will be grinned at. She will stick her tongue out at Scorpius. IF she meets them, of course. ]

You realize the last time someone jumped me from behind I almost had brain surgery without anesthesia?

Re: [Spam]
[He sags a little with her weight on him, but to be fair he's much bigger and stronger than her, so he might be just faking it. When she she steps back off of him, he'll be very careful to make sure his vest is straight on his chest, and still closed all the way, since he's got that wound to hide now, and his shirt is still ripped. Regardless, he'll still have a smile plastered on.]

You okay?
Re: [Spam]
[But he doesn't sound all that sure. That smile on his face is slipping.]

Re: [Spam]
[He purses his lips, thinking if he should tell. Finally he caves, and spreads the vest back open a little to reveal the still very open, yet not bleeding, hole in his chest, right through the heart.]
You know how Ned was an undead slave for the last flood? Well, I caught up to him at the tail end of it, and then Arthas caught up to me.
[Spam]
Have you, uh. Thought about stitching that up at all?
[ That's gonna leave one mother of a scar if he just leaves it handing open like that. ]
Re: [Spam]
[He looks at his feet, suddenly somber.]
He died instead. Now he's the one suffering the death toll. And I'll just be walking around with a little extra ventilation for a while.
[Spam]
[ She just really can't see any reason he wouldn't get it stitched up, who wants a gaping hole in their chest?
Okay Steph time to stop staring at the gaping hole in his chest. ]
Wait, he dies to bring people back?
[Spam]
[Chicks dig scars right?]
Someone has to die, apparently that's how it works. He was babbling pretty quick, but it was pretty clear this was the first time he himself was the one to take the place. He wasn't even sure it would work.
[Spam]
[ That sounds downright freaky, she's not gonna lie. ]
I'm glad you're okay.
[Spam]
Physically, I guess I am. [Gaping hole not withstanding.] Still working on how I feel about all this.
I thought I'd be more...angry. I mean, the guy ran me through like it was nothing.
[Spam]
[ She's kind of working through it herself, from the sidelines. But she could see how a sudden death would leave you hard pressed to really be angry. ]
[Spam]
[Which is weird, isn't it? Should something like that stick in his mind? It's all so bizarre.]
[Spam]
[ That should be comforting, honest. ]
[Spam]
How is it I'm more pissed at Ned for taking my place than I am at the guy who did it?! Am I going nuts here?
[Spam]
[ She takes his hands in her own, just to make sure he's really paying attention, and gives him that stern understanding look that seem far too old and mature for her. ]
Backwards as it seems, it's always easier to deal with random violence. You can rationalize it, you can disconnect, and you can feel safe in all your safe places. When it's someone you know, when there's a betrayal, when it was someone you trusted or someone who was supposed to take care of you, that's when you can't escape it.
You're not crazy. You're just human.
