103,41 - Something borrowed, something... green?

[ Anyone who's seen Steph react in a crisis likely recognizes the outfit she's wearing now. The suit goes up to cover her neck, features colored padding down her sides and the insides of her arms. The gloves have spikes. She doesn't wear the cape or mask these days. The main differences are that it seems to be glowing, the paneling is green, and there isn't a bat on her chest anymore. No, it's been replaced with the Green Lantern symbol.

There is also a definite green tinge to her skin, though it could just be a trick of the eye. ~~It isn't though.~~ She eyes the camera entirely uncertainly. ]

So, uh... unless there's a new GL on board, Aya, I think I've got something of yours.

[ She looks down at her costume, which she has to admit looks pretty snazzy in green. ]

Only I'm not wearing a Green Lantern ring, so... how do I get it off?

[ Steph takes a moment to create a life-size green pegasus, gently place her friend on top and have the two horses prance around each other in the air before answering. ]

Yeah, we were pretty good friends. Doyle was her best friend, I think.

[Claire blushes at the mention of Steph's inmate, trying to hide it by leaning down to pat the illusionary winged horse.]

How come this is all past tense?

[ If she had noticed, the thought was brushed off by the next question. The horses stilled in response to Steph's feelings of sympathy for her friend. ]

She went home, and when she came back she was... different. Not just blue and black instead of green and white. She shut off her emotions. Something happened that made her so bitter she wanted to take the whole universe apart.

Shit. That's...I'm sorry, Steph. That sucks a lot.

[She held out her hand, frowning.]

[ Steph takes her friend's hand while the horses whinny and paw at the air. Apparently her imagination has a very clear idea of how horses behave. ]

I just wish there was something I could do, you know? I still care about her, attempted mass murderer or not.

[It makes for a much cooler experience, iffy topic aside.

Claire runs a thumb over the girl's knuckles, giving the hand a comforting squeeze.]

Caring is better than abandoning her. And maybe you'll think of something later. Maybe there is a way you can help with her rehabilitation.

[ Steph offers a reassuring smile. ]

Yeah. I just have to think of something. In any case I've told her warden to ask if he ever needs help with her.

That's a start.

[ Claire drops a quick kiss on the blonde's hand before gently releasing it. Looking at her awesome, new, temporary ride, she asks: ] You want a drastic change in subjects? Because I have two.

[ Steph chuckles at the silliness before taking her hand back. The horses start trotting again, and she glances down, curious if anyone is watching them. ]

Yeah, shoot.

[In the event there are eavesdroppers, Claire minds the volume of her voice.]

Your inmate is quite the charmer. He called me breathtaking and I honestly can't remember the last time someone gave me such a huge compliment like that. The accent doesn't help, either. Resisting him, that is.

[ Steph blinks, raises an eyebrow, then grins widely. ]

Oh my god, you have a crush on him.

No I don't! [Swats at Steph and says it too quickly. Then adds on:] Very much. I don't know. He was just really nice and whatever. And it's been...a while.

[And she needs to forget about a certain someone. Certain someones.]

You totally have a crush on him. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, Claire, but he's head over heels in love with someone back home he claims is unattainable. [ May as well get that out there at the start. She's met Cordelia, and she's no Claire, but she can see why Doyle likes her. ]

[Claire lapses into silence, stare determinedly fixed on the stars and dust surrounding them.]

Well that's...kinda...but he was so flirty?

[She faces Steph with a look torn between hope and confusion, hands gripping either side of the pegasus's neck.]

[ Steph shrugs helplessly. ]

He calls me princess. Might just be a thing he does.

Yeah. Maybe.

[Awesome. She really does need to stick to what she said to Lua; Guerrero's graduation and fuck stupid boys.

Claire sighs.]

Guess it's a good enough segue into drastic topic change number two. Iris is something else.

[ That is definitely a drastic topic change. Steph blinks. ]

You have a crush on Iris too?

[If Claire had been controlling the horse and pegasus, they would have dropped. She snorts from laughing so hard, trying to get words out while shaking her head.]

ohmygod...ohmygod...nooooo! I probably could have done that differently, um. [Deep breath for composure.] Okay. No, we...she was the one who suggested going for Doyle and then somehow you got brought into the conversation? And apparently the Barge's wishes have gotten to her.

[If she has to say it, she will.]

[ Steph watches her friend struggle with raised eyebrows. It's hard not to laugh along with her - it's contagious. ]

Oh, wait, you mean she -

[ Iris is trying to set them up? ]

Well. That's... not nearly as surprising as it probably should be.

No. Not anymore at least. [Claire finds it easier to focus on her ride's mane, making loose braids.]

Doesn't matter anyway because you have Kon, which I mentioned, but you know Iris. A minor obstacle for her. She likes sharing, but not everyone is in that same boat.

Yeah. [ She chuckles, shaking her head. ] Iris really is something else. I think she and Babs might have a thing.

Oh, I already know they do, she totally told me. And Cain. And maybe my inmate, because they were totally naked after the cursed items flood but they both had just transformed out of an animal form...so I don't know. They weren't exactly forthcoming...and I kind of like it that way?

Yeah, more than I needed to know. [ Steph rubs her hands over her eyes and for a moment the horses flicker. ]

I wonder if Babs knows that Iris is sleeping with Cain.

[Claire braces for impact, just in case, but not all that worried since she's not affected and still able to heal.] I gathered as much? I asked her how she did it, asked if they knew about each other. She said they have their own filter. That she doesn't really hide much, which, um, I've seen her naked twice soooo, yeah, certain taboos just don't exist for her. [Titters.]

[ Steph can't help but take a moment to be amused by the entire last ten minutes or so. She lets her own unicorn fade, but allows Claire to keep her pegasus. ]

Yeah, nope, don't really want to think about my best friend's biological dad and adopted mom in bed with anyone at all ever.
