21- Enter Chorus
[ Video ]
[ Stephanie stands in the middle of her room in an actor's neutral position, taking no attention away from her words. The only expressive part of her is her face, which appears engaged and enthusiastic in the way that all good storytellers are. ]
Upon your lives you find us harshly toss'd
Who ne'er a single trespass did intend.
In truth I find myself a little lost.
So many different stories to attend!
But still it is my role to clarify
And comment hence upon the goings on.
These puzz'ling circumstances verified
The chorus now her sacred duty dons.
[ A pause, for effect. ]
Unearthly burdened spirits here are kept
Who in their time must learn to be set free.
Between the stars we hitherto are swept
And strange we find the journey oft to be
As twice upon the changing of the moon
A spell befalls all those who ride within.
The ending of this tale does come too soon
Before the story proper can begin
When thrice the sun has set upon our minds
(For stars are suns and pass fast overhead)
Then other roles we held will us remind
And we ourselves will hence this story shed.
Fear not the ending of this gentle dream
For things are never as they like to seem.
